Another perspective: The 2011 Opening Day Roster

Check out what the Opening Day 25-Man roster looks like. Buster, both Sanchez’s, Zito, Nate, and now Affeldt are all still currently out. Tejada and Rowand aren’t even on the team anymore. Many of the rest suffered injuries. Also worth noting: Ross and Wilson weren’t on the 25-Man to begin with, thanks to injuries.

The Giants Injury Report Update: A Season In Review (so far!)

Here are the 44 players that were on the Giants Active Roster at any point this season. Players with an “X” over their face were on the DL at some time during the season. Players with a green box around them are the ones that have stayed on the active roster for the entirety of the season. Honestly, it’s amazing we’re in second place.

Brandon Belt is a nice guy! (no surprise)

So I went to the Rivercats/Grizzlies game tonight with my roommate. We arrived when the gates opened, staked out a spot next to the Grizzlies dugout, and waited patiently for them to come out for warm-ups. Of course they were all very nice, especially my faves Thomas Neal and Marc Kroon, who I’ve met before.

Brandon was one of the last Grizzlies to come out for warm-ups, and by the time he started signing autographs, the line waiting for him was really long, he started at the opposite end from us, and the game was starting, so he didn’t get to us. We and some guys who had been waiting with us for an hour tried to get his attention in the dugout, but of course he said he couldn’t sign during the game and he’d get us after.

At the end of the game, the roomie and I forced our way down to the dugout, where of course a ton of people were waiting, including the guys from before. Well, Brandon started walking across the field with the rest of the team, leaving! :( so we started shouting for him and one of the guys yells “Brandon Kyle, you lied!” That got him to turn around anx everyone cheered haha.

When he got to the crowd he said something about wanting to go to the movies tonight, but he started signing stuff for everyone. He signed for our new friend and that guy pointed to us and said “now you need to talk to those girls, they are your biggest fans.” So he did and took pictures with us and was just a nice guy who definitely DID NOT need to turn around and come back, but he did and we were so happy!
